Ryder Cup Next Weekend

The 2017 Irv Gerlich Memorial Ryder Cup kicks off Thursday with a 6:30 p.m. stag event. Teams will be announced, and shirts, caps and pairings distributed. Golf begins Friday with a 10 a.m. shotgun. An LPN employee shootout will be that evening at 5 p.m., with spectators welcome. Saturday is an 11 a.m. shotgun start, followed by a 5 p.m. shootout featuring the 12 low gross and 12 low net players. The event wraps up Sunday, with singles matches beginning at 10 a.m. Dinner and awards will be around 7 p.m. Direct questions to team captains Kane Powell and Corey Welberg. More details here.

Fore Fun Friday at Panorama West

Panorama West will host another Fore Fun couples event this Friday, August 11. No advance registration is needed for this two-couple scramble. Check-in at 4:30 p.m. and get game instructions. Pairings and hole assignments are announced with a shotgun start at 5 p.m. The cost is $1 per couple, with the entry fees returned as prize money when players gather on the clubhouse deck after golf. For more information, contact Bill and Karen Eby at 641-755-2907.

Panorama West Hosts Two Special Events

The Panorama West Golf Course will be closed for a few hours today and August 19 to host special events. Today, the course will be closed from noon until 5 p.m., and Saturday, August 19 from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. Panorama West accepts tee times on weekends and holidays, so if you're planning to play one of those two days, call the clubhouse at 641-755-2250 to reserve a spot before or after these special events. 

LPN to Host Iowa Wife-Husband Championship

Lake Panorama National will host the 57th Iowa Wife-Husband Championship September 15-17. This is a 36-hole modified alternate stroke tournament. Participants must legally be husband and wife and maintain a residence in Iowa. The field is limited to the first 99 entrants, who will have the option of playing Friday-Saturday, Friday-Sunday or Saturday-Sunday. There is a championship division and a super-senior division. The super-senior division is open to a team with a combined age of 130 years as of September 15, 2017. All play in this division is from the forward tees. The entry fee for either division is $175 per team. More details and entry form available online.

Book Holiday Parties Now

The holiday season will be here before we know it, so now is a good time to plan your company's holiday party or special times with family and friends. The LPN conference center offers a variety of room sizes and meal plans to accommodate any group. If you'll have people visiting from out-of-town, the LPN also has lodging available in either townhouses or motel rooms. Dates are filling up, so call the LPN at 641-755-2080 to discuss options for your company or family get-together, or to make lodging reservations.

Seeking Full-time, Experienced Line Cook

The Links is seeking a full-time, experienced line cook to start as soon as possible. Candidate must have line cook experience, work well with others, and be able to work 40 hours per week. Also must be flexible on schedule, and willing to work nights, weekends and holidays. Pay will be based on experience. Water Aerobics Classes at LPN Pool

Since June, water aerobics classes have been offered at 9 a.m. Monday and Friday mornings at the LPN pool. Now a 7 p.m. Wednesday class has been added. Jackie Van Ahn leads the Monday morning class. Sandy Juhl leads the Wednesday and Friday classes. The classes are free, but those who haven’t purchased an annual LPN pool membership pay a $3 daily fee. Classes last an hour and will continue through August.
