New Menus in The Links

New menus have been introduced in The Links. The main menu is available for both lunch and dinner. A separate dinner menu with additional entrees and sides is inserted in the evenings.

The main menu opens with a robust list of “signature sandwiches.” These include long-time favorites such as the Big Tex Burger, Patty Melt, Chicken Parmesan, and specialty tenderloins. New sandwich offerings are the Southwest Turkey, Cuban, French Dip and Philly.

To supplement the signature sandwiches, there is a new “build-your-own” sandwich section. The Links kitchen staff starts with a Brioche bun, plus lettuce, tomato, onion and pickle. Guests choose one of four proteins – half-pound beef patty, pork tenderloin, six-ounce chicken breast, or black bean burger. Cheese and topping choices finish off these sandwich orders.

Popular flatbreads such as Chicken Bacon Alfredo and Red Pepper Chicken remain on the menu, while guests are encouraged to build their own ingredient-by-ingredient. Favorite wraps also remain, with the addition of the Philly, which offers a choice of chicken or beef.

A choice of one side is included with all sandwiches and wraps. A few additional sides are available with an extra cost. Salads and “shareables” round out the main menu.

A new breakfast menu, available 8 a.m. to noon each Saturday and Sunday, offers a variety of egg entrees, sandwiches and sides, plus pancakes, French toast, and Belgian waffles. We look forward to our Links guests diving into these new menus to try some of the new options. Let us know what you think!

This is Getting Habit Forming!

We’re talking about golfers getting a hole-in-one at Panorama West! Ann Chambers scored an ace August 6 as she played in the women’s Tuesday morning league. It was on the first hole, and playing partners Linda Wendl, Krissy Ross and Carolyn Hejlik were witnesses.

The Friday before that, Dan Eliopulos scored a hole-in-one on the fourth hole. He was participating in a McDermott family best-ball tournament in honor of Jeanne McDermott’s 95th birthday, whose party was held at the LPN. If you score an ace at Panorama West, let someone in the pro shop know so your name can be added to the clubhouse board recognizing 2019 hole-in-one honorees.

LPN Hiring Part-time Help

A program at 5 p.m. will include comments from Thompson and John Rutledge, LPA general manager, followed by time for questions and comments. Make plans now to join the fun, then stay for dinner and drinks in The Links. Specials that evening will include a zucchini noodle and mushroom appetizer, and an Iowa Black Angus Strip steak.

The books also are available at the LPA and LPN front desks, and Panorama West Clubhouse. The cost is $35, which includes tax. Purchases can be made via cash, check or credit card.

LPN Women's Solheim Week

The annual LPN Solheim will be held this Friday and Saturday, led by this year's team captains Kim Kent and Kathy Moline. Teams for both the Saturday competition and the Friday evening shootout will be announced after women's league play Thursday. The Friday shootout starts at 6 p.m., with “betting tables” open at 5:30 p.m. Spectators are welcome. Dinner will follow for participants and their spouse or guest.

The two-person team competition is Saturday, with the first tee time at 11 a.m. Each player will be matched with a partner, and play against another two-person team. Three different formats are played within these 18-hole matches, with three points per match up for grabs. Dinner will follow, with a competitor's spouse or guest welcome. Team prizes and the announcement of the 2020 captains will follow dinner.

LPA Member Input Requested

Friends of Lake Panorama is looking for volunteers to help study and provide input on future projects. Three task forces are being formed. One will study gaming options for the three beaches, including such things as bocce ball, miniature golf, horseshoes, etc. Another will focus on walking trails, including upgrades to the trail near Panorama West, and a new trail on the south shore. The third task force will study dog parks. Task force meetings will begin in early September.

Proposals for playground equipment at Boulder and Shady beaches and a disc golf course already are in the works. LPA members interested in providing feedback once these proposals are ready for review also are needed. To volunteer, email staff@friendsoflakepanorama.org. Or call Susan Thompson, Friends of Lake Panorama executive director, at 515-240-6536.
