LPN Club Championship Results
The 48th annual LPN club championship took place last weekend, with the men playing both days and the women playing Sunday. Bill Douglass won the men’s open division, with Todd Ellis winning the senior division, and Mike Mumma winning the super senior division. Mandy Willey was named the women’s club champion. Full results for the top three places in all divisions in both gross and net are available online.
Panorama West Fore Fun Friday Couples
This Friday, August 16, is the fifth of six Friday night couples events at Panorama West. This two-couple scramble includes some type of just-for-fun golf game. Play begins at 5 p.m., with registration at 4:30. Arrive early to learn about the event, get hole assignments, and pay the $1 per couple entry fee, plus green fees for any non-members. Preregistration isn’t necessary, but if you need a cart, call the Panorama West pro shop at (641) 755-2250. Entry fees are returned as prize money as players gather on the deck after the round. New LPN Marketing and Events Manager
A new staff position recently was created and filled at Lake Panorama National, in an effort to increase the number and quality of events held at the LPN conference center. Sheri Anthofer, who lives in Jefferson, began work July 17 as the LPN marketing and events coordinator.
Anthofer came to the LPN after four years as general manager of the Cobblestone Hotel, which is attached to the Wild Rose Casino in Jefferson. At Lake Panorama National, Anthofer is in charge of coordinating all events held in the conference center. She’ll also take on marketing tasks, helping increase awareness of what the resort has to offer.
Anthofer currently is working on 2020 bridal contracts, with a handful of weddings already scheduled for next year. As the golf season winds down, she’ll organize some special events to draw in regular LPN customers, as well as others from Lake Panorama and surrounding communities.

Incentive Program for LPA Members to Book at LPN
The LPN has an incentive program for Lake Panorama Association members who book new events at the conference center. The program provides LPN member credits when a new event is booked. For instance, a new event with catered meal for 50-100 will result in a $50 LPN member credit; new event with catered meal for 101-200 means a $100 LPN member credit; and a new event with catered meal for 201 or more will result in a $150 LPN member credit.
Events must be billed on a single ticket, and cannot be a group event where attendees pay individual tickets. Credits will be applied once final payment is received. Only one incentive per event, and the incentive isn’t available for events already booked. Also, if an LPA member refers a non-LPA member who books a catered event for at least 35 people, the member will receive a $35 credit. For more information, call the LPN front desk at (641) 755-2080.
Celebrate Lake Panorama Book August 20
The book titled Lake Panorama – The First 50 Years now is available. People who ordered online can pick up their books at the LPA office. The books also are available for sale at the LPA and LPN front desks, and Panorama West Clubhouse. The cost is $35, which includes tax. Purchases can be made via cash, check or credit card.
A book celebration will be Tuesday, August 20, in the banquet room at the Lake Panorama National conference center. There will be a social hour beginning at 4 p.m., with free appetizers and a cash bar. Attendees can pick up books they purchased earlier online, or purchase books at this event.
There will be historical displays, including maps, promotional material, advertising pieces, and early newsletters. The book’s author, Susan Thompson, will be available to answer questions, and sign books. A program at 5 p.m. will include comments about the book’s development from Thompson and John Rutledge, LPA general manager, followed by a question and answer period.
