Today is the entry deadline for a new event for 2019 at Lake Panorama National. This is a member/member tournament on Sunday, July 21, which will involve two-person teams comprised of LPN members. The format will be six holes of better ball, six holes of alternate shot, and six holes of best shot. There will be both men’s and women’s divisions, flighted based on number of entries.

The cost is $60 per team, which covers prizes and dinner following golf. Call the LPN pro shop at (641) 755-2024 to register, or complete the registration form below.

Panorama West Fore Fun Friday Couples

This Friday, July 12, is the third of six Friday night couples events at Panorama West. This two-couple scramble always includes some type of just-for-fun golf game. Play begins at 5 p.m., with registration at 4:30. Arrive early to learn about the event, get hole assignments, and pay the $1 per couple entry fee, plus green fees for any non-members. Preregistration isn’t necessary, but if you need a cart, call the Panorama West pro shop at (641) 755-2250. Entry fees are returned as prize money as players gather on the deck after the round. For more information, contact Bill and Karen Eby at 515-480-4633. Remaining dates for this year are July 26, August 16, and August 30. Come join the fun!

Sadie Hawkins Couples July 19

The 14th annual Sadie Hawkins couples event at Lake Panorama National will be Friday, July 19 with a shotgun start at 5:30 p.m. Women must invite a man other than her husband to form a two-person team for this two-person best shot. Sign up as a two-person team, and you may request to play with another team. This is a members only event, but a member may have a guest. Entry fees are $10 for a two-person member team, and $35 for a member with a non-member guest. Call the pro shop at (614) 755-2024 to register.

Rally for Tori’s Angels July 18

For the second year, the LPN women’s league is sponsoring a nine-hole, four-gal best shot event to raise money for Tori’s Angels. The charity provides financial support to Iowa children with life-threatening medical challenges. The event is Thursday, July 18, with check-in at 5 p.m. and a 5:30 p.m. shotgun start. Golf will be followed by a pizza party, door prizes, and silent auction. A highlight will be people involved in Tori’s Angels telling their stories and answering questions.

The entry fee is $40 for LPN members, and $50 for non-members, which covers a T-shirt, golf and dinner. Those who already have a Tori’s Angels T-shirt to wear that night can mark “no shirt needed” on their form, and $15 of their entry fee will go directly to Tori’s Angels.

During golf, there will be special events on each of the nine holes. Once in the clubhouse, there will be more than a dozen door prizes and the opportunity to bid on gift baskets and other items in the silent auction. Some donations so far include $250 in merchandise from Scheel’s, $200 in Vera Bradley products, and two Lake Panorama prints offered by Fin and Feather. Additional donations are being sought. Entry forms are available in both the Panorama West and LPN pro shops, and online. For more details, or to register to just attend the dinner after golf, contact Becky Rolfes at 515-681-9111 or beckyrolfes@gmail.com.

LPN Gets Support from Granite Club

In 2008, 12 businesses made monetary or in-kind contributions to Lake Panorama National to support the construction of Spikes. In exchange, the businesses received a sponsorship sign on an LPN tee box. Several of these businesses have maintained their sponsorship since. One new member—Minnesota Cabinets—joined the Granite Club this year, and is featured on the 18th hole.

Original Granite Club members who renewed for 2019 are Panora Telco, Guthrie County State Bank/GCSB Investment Center, Exterior Sheet Metal, Bryton Insurance, and Total Financial Solutions.

Five new members joined in 2018 and renewed this year. These are Bristle Farms, Beer Can Alley, Panora State Bank, Hawley Insurance, and Robert Carr/State Farm. Three members joined in 2017, and have renewed annually. These are Martin Brothers, Jensen Sanitation, and Tometich Engineering.

Four holes remain available for sponsorship – seven, 11, 14, and 15. Annual sponsorships are $500. New sponsors also are asked to pay the cost of the sign, which is $250. Granite Club members receive a free round of golf for a foursome, including carts, when they purchase or renew their annual membership. Club members also are recognized on the LPN website and in this newsletter.

More details of the Granite Club, along with a request form for information, can be found onlilne. Or call Royce Shaffer, LPN operations manager, (641) 755-2080.
