Due to the rain last Wednesday, work on a new driving range net was pushed back to Monday and Tuesday of this week. The range will be closed these two days while the net installation company erects 17 poles every 50 feet. Once the poles are set, measurements will be taken to determine the exact dimensions of the custom net. Installation of the net will take place in about a month and will require the range be closed again for a couple of days.

Successful Rally for a Cure
The annual LPN Rally for a Cure to raise money for breast cancer awareness was last Thursday. This is the 22nd year for Rally events, organized by the Susan G. Komen Foundation, which educates women about early detection of breast cancer. This local event was sponsored by the LPN women's league. Thirty-six golfers paid $20 in registration fees for a total of $720. Prior to golf, participants had a chance to purchase pinwheels to decorate the pathway to the pro shop. A Rally gift basket was donated, with chances to win sold for $1 each.
On the course, golfers had special events on every hole, including opportunities to raise more money. These extra events, along with other donations received earlier, raised $412. At the dinner following golf, several cancer survivors were recognized with a potted plant donated by Panorama Gardens. League members and area businesses donated 47 items for a silent auction. The auction brought in $1,485, for a grand total of $2,617 raised. All proceeds will be sent to Komen Greater Iowa.
