LPN Resort Weekly - 7/29/2018

LPN Club Championship Next Weekend

The 47th annual LPN Club Championship will be August 4-5, with 18 holes played both days. There will be three men's divisions — open, senior men (over 50), and super senior men (over 70). There is one division for women. Entry fee for all divisions is $30 and entry deadline is Thursday, August 2. Prizes will be awarded in both gross and net, and the number of flights will be based on the number of entries. More details are available online.

The LPN Junior Club Championship will be August 4 and will be the last groups to tee off that day. The entry fee is $10. Age divisions will depend on the number of entries. This event is recommended for juniors ages 7 through 15. Parents are asked to caddy and keep score for their junior players. All age divisions will play nine holes from the red tee markers. Call the pro shop to register at 641-755-2024.

Adjusted Links Restaurant Hours

Over the next 10 days, Lake Panorama National will be hosting a variety of events that will require some adjustments to our restaurant hours. Next Saturday, August 4, the Links will be open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. for breakfast and lunch. The Links will close at 1 p.m. as we host a wedding reception and other parties that evening. Other events Sunday, August 5, and Wednesday, August 8, will limit seating to the bar only. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

LPN Dining Room Open House August 11

The family of a former Panora dentist and Lake Panorama resident has found a unique way to honor his memory. Dr. David Wang drowned in Lake Panorama August 17, 2002, at the age of 40. He and his family were entertaining friends on their boat when a young boy in the water needed help. Wang went into the water and never surfaced.

Earlier this year, the Wang family donated $10,000 to Friends of Lake Panorama, and asked the money be used for something special at Lake Panorama National. After consultations with LPN staff, they decided a major portion of their donation would be used to renovate the LPN dining room. The renovations include new artwork, chairs, tables and decorations.

On August 11, three members of Dr. Wang’s family will see the dining room updates for the first time. His wife Grace and their two children, Tony and Cassie, will be present for an open house in the LPN dining room from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. This is a come-and-go event, with light refreshments available. Make plans now to stop by to see the updates, and visit with the Wang family.
