Next weekend is one of the few this summer when the LPN conference center isn't hosting a large wedding reception. The Timber Creek Charities golf tournament dinner will be in the banquet room Saturday evening, but both The Links dining room and bar will be open for business all day. Reservations are always accepted, and are an especially good idea if you'll have a large group for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Call 641-755-2080 or 641-755-2100 to reserve your table.
Drew Labath, the LPN's new executive chef, is offering recurring weekday dinner specials throughout July. Come to The Links for Taco Tuesday and enjoy two hard or soft shell beef tacos topped with cheese and pico de gallo, served with rice, refried beans and queso blanco for just $7.95. Wednesday is Rib Night for $15.95, and includes slow roasted pork ribs with a smoky barbeque sauce, served with bacon coleslaw and baked beans. Home-cooked comfort food is offered each Thursday and includes such things as meatloaf and fried chicken with sides for $10.95.

Volunteers Still Needed for Iowa Open
Just one month remains before LPN hosts the Brokers International Iowa Open August 19-21. To provide support all three days, volunteers are needed for 160 shifts. About half of those are filled, with great response already for both Friday and Saturday mornings. At least 20 additional shifts remain open each day, including Friday and Saturday afternoons, and Sunday morning. Morning shift starting times Friday and Saturday will vary from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., depending on the hole assignment. Afternoon shifts start between noon and 1:30 p.m. Sunday shifts start between 8 a.m. and 11 a.m., and will last until play is completed on assigned holes, which should be 4-5 hours. Lunch, snacks and bottled water will be provided to volunteers each day they work.
All volunteers are invited to a cookout at Spikes on Tuesday, August 16 at 5 p.m.. At that time, they will receive a new gold-colored Antigua microfiber shirt, with a choice of black, cardinal or purple logo. Even those who have volunteered in the past are asked to complete this year's volunteer form to indicate shirt size. While they last, new volunteers also will receive a new shirt and cap from previous years. Online registration is preferred and available here. Paper copies of the form are available in the LPN pro shop, or from Larry and July Wykoff, volunteer coordinators. Questions? Call Julie at 515-778-0053.
