LPN Spring Wine Dinner is April 22
The success of the Valentine's Day wine dinner means another is being offered to celebrate spring on Friday, April 22. Each course of the five-course dinner will be paired with a different wine. Chef Peter Makens will personally present each course. The first course is a crab cake, made with Blue Crab, lemon aoli, micro greens and salad candied lemon. The second course is a roasted asparagus salad with roasted asparagus, roasted lemon vinaigrette, parmesan cheese, pancetta bacon and poached egg. The third course is risotto with local morel mushrooms, shallots, garlic and pecorino romano. The main course is herb roasted tenderloin of beef with fingerling potatoes, wild mushrooms and a veal demi-glace. The final course is a vanilla bean creme brulee with made-from-scrach biscotti.
The wine dinner will be served promptly at 7 p.m. in the LPN dining room. The regular menu will be available in the lounge. The cost is $75 per person, and the event is limited to 60 people. This is expected to sell out, so make reservations as soon as possible by calling 641-755-2080 or 800-879-1917.
Get Signed Up for Bud Light Tournament April 24
The first organized golf tournament of the LPN season is always the Bud Light 8" Cup. This year's event will be Sunday, April 24. As the name implies, the cups on the greens will be 8 inches to help players who lost their putting stroke over the winter. Entry fees are $120 per team if all members are LPN golf members, and $240 per team if all members are not LPN golf members. If your team has a mixture of LPN members and non-members, see the entry form or call the pro shop for a fee breakdown. Registration begins at 10 a.m., with a shotgun start at 11 a.m. and awards at 4 p.m. Entry fees cover golf with cart, range balls, hors d'oeuvres, and prizes.
Mother's Day Brunch is May 8
Make plans now to get Mom out of the kitchen and into The Links on May 8 for the annual LPN Mother's Day brunch. The brunch will be served 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., with seatings scheduled every half hour. The cost is $19.95 for adults, $9.95 for children 5-12 and free for children 4 and under. Since the kitchen staff will be busy preparing for the brunch, the regular breakfast menu won't be available that morning. This is a popular event, so get your reservations made soon by calling 641-755-2080 or 800-879-1917.
Pool Memberships Now Available
This will be the first full year for the new pool and spa at the LPN. The pool is scheduled to open May 15, and be open until the end of September. A new awning soon will be placed over the window in the southeast corner of the pro shop. Anyone using the pool must check-in at this window before entering the pool. Those purchasing an annual membership will receive permanent wristbands. Those paying the daily fee will receive a paper wristband for that day. Concessions also are sold from this window.
Guests of Clover Ridge and Lake Panorama Inn and Suites have access to the pool at no charge. All others must either have an annual membership or pay the daily fee. Annual memberships for LPA members are $75 for a single and $130 for a family. Non-LPA members can get an annual membership for $85 for a single and $145 for a family. The daily fee is $3. The pool can be rented for special events. A membership form was included in the recent quarterly LPA water bill mailing. The form can be completed and either mailed or dropped off at the LPN front desk or memberships can be purchased online.
