The Links Is Open with New Look, New Menu

The Links kitchen reopened last Tuesday, after being closed two weeks for remodeling. The kitchen remodel involved ceiling and light fixture replacement, removing an old cooler, which opened up additional floor space, and new food prep surfaces. A new walk-in cooler was added adjacent to the kitchen. While the kitchen remodel was underway, LPN staff members painted the walls in the Links lounge, plus the reception area and hallway. Other changes in the lounge include new black chairs and bar stools, plus a foot rail and purse hooks at the bar. The wall behind the bar has been rebuilt, and now features stacked wood in a variety of colors.

The fresh paint, new chairs and upgrades behind the bar make the room look and feel bigger. It has been decided to keep this minimalist look by not returning sports memorabilia and neon signs to the walls. Those who donated sports-related items for display are asked to pick those up. If you're looking for another home for items you don't want back, Friends of Lake Panorama is soliciting items for a silent auction and raffle. This will be part of its first annual "Fun-raiser" May 6 at the LPN...more details soon! If you'd like to discuss donating an item, email staff@friendsoflakepanorama.org to make arrangements. Friends is a 501(c)3 nonprofit charity, so donations are tax deductible.

The new Links menu includes old favorites, plus lots of new offerings. There now are 15 different burger options, all available in two sizes, plus a nice list of add-ons. The popular Links pork tenderloin still is available grilled or breaded. But try some of the new options, such as the sweet pepper loin, the big pig loin or the pigs and apples loin. The menu also includes 13 other sandwiches, four wraps, six pasta dishes, nine all-new flatbread pizzas, several salads offered in two sizes, and a fun list of appetizers. Steak, seafood, chicken and pork entrees round out the menu. In short, Chef Makens has developed a new menu that offers lots of great food at reasonable prices, fixed your way. Get to the Links soon, because it will take many visits to try it all!

Two Fish Fry Fridays Remain

Two Fish Fry Fridays remain in observance of Lent — this Friday, March 18, and again March 25. All-you-can-eat beer battered cod, prepared and served fresh from the kitchen, is available for both lunch and dinner. For lunch, the cod is served with coleslaw and fries at a cost of $9.95. For dinner, enjoy the all-you-can-eat cod with a dinner salad, roll, coleslaw and fries for $15.95.

Make Reservations for Easter Brunch

The LPN’s annual Easter Brunch will be Sunday, March 27, with reservations taken every half hour from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. The fourth annual LPN Easter egg hunt will be held that day at 10 a.m., adjacent to the conference center. This is open to all children, not just those attending the brunch.

Brunch offerings include fresh cinnamon and caramel rolls, assorted pastries, fresh fruit, assorted salads and an artisan cheese display. Egg dishes include a made-to-order omelet station, scrambled eggs, egg soufflé and Eggs Benedict. Meat offerings include house-cured salmon, thick-sliced applewood bacon, breakfast sausage, chef-carved roast beef and ham, and corned beef hash. Crepes, French toast, au gratin potatoes and baked mostaccioli round out the menu. Adults can visit the build-your-own Bloody Mary bar for an extra $7.

The brunch cost is $19.95 for adults, $9.95 for children ages 5 to 12, children 4 and under free. Reservations are strongly recommended. Call the LPN front desk at 641-755-2080 or 800-879-1917 to reserve your table.

Golf Courses Get Busy

With the great spring weather we're having, both the Lake Panorama National and Panorama West golf courses are getting significant play. Course conditions are good, with the turf firming up and green grass starting to grow. The LPN pro shop is open daily 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with hours adjusted as weather dictates. If you haven't yet joined for 2016, membership forms are here. For nonmember, green fees through the end of March, including cart, are $38 until 3 p.m., when the rate drops to $28. Call the pro shop for tee times at 641-755-2024.

Membership information for the Panorama West golf course is available here. For non-members, daily green fees are $16 and may be paid at the kiosk. The pro shop will reopen April 1, and four rental carts will be available beginning that day. Call 641-755-2250 for weekend tee times. All other times are first come, first served.
