Panorama Panthers Boys Golf Team Wins State

A shout out to the Panorama Panthers boys golf team for their first-place win in the Class 2-A state tournament! Their final team score was 616, well ahead of Carroll Kuemper's second place score of 633. Will Babcock's two-day score of 142 earned him the top individual title, with Jordan Eng tying for second with a 150. Congratulations to the entire team and coaches, we're proud of you!

Junior Golf Begins This Week

Most of the players on that winning Panorama Panthers team got their start in LPN junior golf programs, like those that begin this week. LPN junior league kicks off tomorrow and runs each Monday for 11 weeks through August 10. There is no cost for this league, which begins at 5 p.m. Boys must be able to walk 9 holes, carry their clubs and be able to keep score. For girls, the number of holes played will depend on time and skill level. Also, the 17th annual Junior Golf School will be four Wednesdays in June, beginning this week. The school is open to juniors ages 5 to 17, costs $50, and runs from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. the first three sessions. The final session June 24 will be a golf tournament and pizza party at the Panorama West golf course from 10 a.m. to noon. The school is sponsored by the Guthrie County State Bank and the Lake Panorama Association. For more information, contact the LPN pro shop at 641-755-2024.

Some Slots Remain for LPN Two-Gal June 25

Women golfers are invited to get their "Game On" at the LPN two-gal, 18-hole, best-shot tournament Thursday, June 25. This is sponsored by the LPN women's league and replaces regular play that day. Check-in is at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. Entry fees cover refreshments, golf with cart, lunch, door prizes and golf prizes. The cost is $55 for non-LPN members and $35 for members. This tournament is limited to the first 60 paid two-person teams. An entry form is here.

Swimming Pool is Popular!

The swimming pool and spa at the LPN conference center, now open for two weeks, is proving to be a very popular spot! The pool is heated, and covered each night. So even on cool, cloudy days, it's still a fun recreational option. Annual memberships are selling well. For LPA members, a 2015 pool membership for a single is $75 and for a family is $130. For others, a single membership is $85 and a family membership is $145. Memberships can be purchased online, or in person. Annual members will receive silicon wristbands to wear when using the pool. The daily rate is $3 per person, and must be paid at the check-in window near the pool. Snacks and beverages also can be purchased there. Pool hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.

Friends of Lake Panorama Fundraiser a Success
