"Fall Days of Summit" to be Rescheduled

Friday's snowstorm caused representatives of Summit Brewery to postpone the beer tasting planned for that evening at The Links. This event will be rescheduled, and we'll let you know the new dates soon. Stay tuned!

Thanksgiving Hours at LPN

The Links will be open as usual this Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. The LPN operation will be closed Thanksgiving Day so employees can spend time with their families. The Links will reopen on Friday at 11 a.m., and maintain regular hours through the rest of the weekend, with breakfast Saturday and Sunday 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. The pro shop will be closed Thursday, Friday and Sunday, but open Saturday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Links Features This Week

With winter's arrival, Chef Peter is offering two new comfort-food features this week. Pigs and Apples is a grilled pork loin sandwich, topped with apple mostarda, swiss cheese, red onion and mayo. The Roasted Garlic Pot Roast feature includes slow braised Iowa beef, roasted garlic, carrots and fingerling potatoes. Other items on this week's feature menu are fried brussel sprouts, coconut shrimp, Greek salad, walleye and santeria chicken sandwiches and the always delicious prime rib wrap. Features are available for both lunch and dinner.

Make Reservations for LPN Holiday Brunch

The annual LPN Holiday Brunch will be Sunday, December 13. Service will be 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. with reservations taken in half-hour increments. Note this year’s brunch will be served for five hours, rather than just three. This should work better into everyone's busy schedule, plus spread out guests to make it more enjoyable both for them and the staff.

Chef Peter is planning a wide variety of new items for this traditional holiday brunch. The menu includes fresh cinnamon and caramel rolls, assorted pastries, fresh fruit, assorted salads, an artisan cheese display, a made-to-order omelet station, scrambled eggs, egg soufflé and Eggs Benedict. Meat offerings include house-cured salmon, thick-sliced applewood bacon, breakfast sausage, chef-carved roast beef and ham, and corned beef hash. Crepes, French toast, au gratin potatoes and baked mostaccioli will round out the offerings. Cost is $18.95 for adults, $9.95 for children ages 5 to 12, with children 4 and under free. Reservations are strongly recommended as this brunch sells out quickly. Call the LPN at 641-755-2080 to reserve your table.

Golf Course Conditions, Pro Shop Sale & Hours

Friday’s snowstorm means no golf happened this weekend, but if experience is any indicator, there will be some decent days between now and spring. The golf course will remain open for play as long as weather and course turf conditions permit. Heavy top dressing has been applied to all greens, and will remain in place over the winter. Golf cart traffic is restricted to cart paths only, including travels to and from the course.

Pro shop hours have shifted to a winter schedule. The shop is open Tuesday through Friday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The shop is closed Sunday and Monday. The year-end sale continues, with men's short-sleeved polos discounted 40 percent, and men's outerwear 30 percent. All women's clothing is 40 percent off. Golf shoes and golf bags are 20 percent off. Golf gloves are 25 percent off, and all headwear is discounted 30 percent. Some discount racks are 50 and 75 percent off.
