Iditarod XIV is November 8
The 14th annual Iditarod is next Sunday. This is a four-person, best-shot tournament that involves playing 12 holes on a redesigned LPN course. For instance, the fourth hole will be a 449-yard par 5. Players will tee from left of the #5 green and play to the #4 green. The fifth hole is a 631-yard par 6, making it the #1 handicap hole on the Iditarod course. Players begin at the #10 white tees and play to the #17 green. Entry fees are $10 per person for LPN members and $25 for non-members. There will be a shotgun start at 11 a.m. Several teams already are signed up, but entries will be taken throughout this week. The forecast looks good, with temps in the 50s or warmer. That means no snow, which is better than some years! Get entered by calling the pro shop at 641-755-2024.

Trees Planted at LPN
About 100 trees have been transplanted from the nursery along the #11 LPN fairway to locations throughout the golf course in the last couple of weeks. Most replaced trees that died of disease in recent years, or trees damaged or destroyed by last year’s tornado. Dan Wollner, LPN grounds superintendent, said the goal was to “put the course back to the same condition it was 10-15 years ago.” Read more about the tree nursery, plus plans to combat the emerald ash borer, here.
