Fourth of July Winners
Winners in the annual Fourth of July long drive contest included Kathy Konigsmara in first and Mandy Willey in second in the women’s division; Jason Grossman, first, and Kevin Willey, second, in the men 31-45 division; Bill Douglass, first, and Les Marks, second, in the men 45-64 division; with Reuben Hanson winning the 65-plus division. Rally for a Cure July 24
The LPN Rally for a Cure golf event, organized annually by the LPN women's league committee, will be Thursday, July 24. This year, the event is open not just to LPN women's league members, but any women who are LPA members. The entry fee of $20 covers the nine holes of golf and a one-year magazine subscription from four choices. A meal and drinks after golf are extra.
The theme for the event is "Bras for a Cause." Fundraising events for the evening include the sale of luminaries, a silent auction, a bra design contest, and on-course contests. A registration form, plus more details, is available here.
Dan Lehman Memorial Tournament July 12
The annual Dan Lehman Memorial golf tournament will be Saturday. This is a four-person, best shot, 18-hole event. Entry fees are $25 for LPN members and $55 for non-members, and cover green fees with cart, range balls and lots of prizes. Registration is 11 a.m. with a shotgun start at 12 p.m. Lehman died in March 2008 of a heart attack while skiing in Colorado. His family hosts this memorial tournament, with money raised supporting LPN junior golf programs. In 2014, seven juniors received Lehman grants to fund their LPN golf membership. Entry form here.
John Staebell Memorial Tournament July 13
The John Staebell Memorial Golf Tournament will be Sunday. Entry fees for this four-person, best shot, 18-hole event are $30 for LPN members and $60 for non-members. That covers green fees with cart, range balls, hole-in-one contests, dinner and prizes. Registration is at noon with a 1 p.m. shotgun start. Staebell died at his Lake Panorama home in March 2011, after a three-year battle with cancer. He was a 43-year member of the Knights of Columbus, so the group’s annual golf tournament was named in his honor. Funds raised go to Timber Creek Charities, the Panora Fire Department and Knights of Columbus charities. Entry form here.
Timber Creek Charities Tournament July 19
The 13th annual Timber Creek Charities golf tournament at the LPN will be Saturday, July 19. Registration is at 10:30 a.m., with lunch at noon, and a shotgun start at 12 p.m. Entry fees are $75 per person or $300 per team. The fee includes 18 holes of golf plus cart, range balls, lunch, dinner, and golf prizes. New this year is a hole-in-one on #3 wins a new car from Smart Honda. John Dinnebier also will be conducting a "beat the pro" contest on #3. A live auction will follow dinner. In 2013, Timber Creek Charities assisted 172 children and adults who would not have had the insurance coverage or resources to receive therapy or therapeutic services at Timber Creek Therapies.
