Tax Exempt Status for Friends of Lake Panorama
For years, people have donated money to improve amenities or honor loved ones at Lake Panorama National or elsewhere around Lake Panorama, even though those donations were not tax-deductible. A new group will change that. A July 2 letter from the IRS stated it has determined the Friends of Lake Panorama, which incorporated Nov. 1, 2013, is exempt from federal income tax, and contributions to the public charity are deductible under federal law.
The Friends of Lake Panorama is completely separate from the LPA. A seven-member board of directors includes Kirk Fischer, Bob McCleeary, Jan Reinicke, James Spradling, Tricia Steffen, Kent Stephenson and Jodi Sutton. Susan Thompson is assisting the group.
The Friends board will meet Monday. At its first meeting last December, the group discussed possible projects at the LPN, Panorama West and the three Lake Panorama beaches. Now that the group’s non-profit status has been confirmed, specific projects for targeted fundraising will be discussed. For more information, contact Susan Thompson at email@example.com.

Friday Night Couples Involves String
This week's Friday Night Couples is the annual "string" tournament. Each team is given a length of string. In this four-person, best-shot competition, the team may move its best ball by hand to a more favorable spot at any time, at any place on the course, measuring with the string the distance the ball was moved and cutting off that length of string. When the string is gone, it's gone. Registration at Spikes at 5 p.m. with a 5:30 p.m. shotgun start. Call the pro shop to register as a couple, the staff will make pairings.
