Dinnebier Qualifies for National PGA Event

The PGA of America represents 27,000 men and women golf professionals. John Dinnebier, LPN general manager and director of golf, is one of 312 of those professionals to qualify for the 47th PGA Professional National Championship June 22-25 at Myrtle Beach, S.C. After the first two rounds, the field will be reduced to the low 90 players plus ties. After the third round, the field is reduced to the low 70 players plus ties. The Golf Channel provides coverage, and live scoring will be available online. Dinnebier also played in the 2011 tournament in Hershey, Pa.

Couples Golf in May

The first Friday Couples of the year is this week. Call or stop in the pro shop to sign up as a couple, and the pro shop staff will make the pairings. Registration at Spikes at 5 p.m. with a shotgun start at 5:30 p.m. More here.

The annual Memorial Day couples tournament is a 1 p.m. shotgun start on Monday, May 26. Sign up to play with another couple, or the pro shop staff can pair you. The cost is $25 per couple for LPN members and $90 per couple for non-members. A potluck supper at Spikes will follow golf. More details here.

Armed Forces Day Tournament Saturday

The 8th annual LPN Armed Forces Day tournament will be Saturday, with a 1 p.m. shotgun start. This two-person best-shot event is open to everyone, and is a great way to honor those who have served in the U.S. military. Fees are $15 per person for LPN golf members and $50 for non-members. Two Tournaments - One Full, One has Openings

The men's member/guest tournament at the LPN May 31-June 1 is full. This is the 14th annual event, sponsored by Guthrie County State Bank and Lake Panorama Realty. The pro shop staff has a waiting list, in case someone cancels.

A few spots remain for a June 10 two-gal tournament at Panorama West. This nine-hole, best-shot tournament will be a shotgun start at 10 a.m. Registration fees of $15 for Panorama West golf course members and $30 for non-members cover refreshments, lunch, golf, cart and prizes. This tournament is limited to the first 36 paid two-gal teams. Registration forms are available at the Panorama West clubhouse or by emailing thomcomm@netins.net.

Junior Golf School Begins June 4

The 16th annual LPN junior golf school begins June 4. The school is open to juniors ages 5 to 17. For the first three Wednesdays, the school will be 10 a.m.-11 a.m. at the LPN. The final session June 25 will be at the Panorama West golf course, includes a tournament and pizza party, and runs 10 a.m. to noon. Cost per student is $50. Weekend Tee Times, Tournaments at Panorama West

A reminder tee times are accepted for weekends and holidays at the Panorama West golf course. Other times, the course is first-come, first served. On May 24, the Panora Lion's Club is hosting a tournament to raise money for the Guthrie County Veteran's Memorial. The Panorama Booster Club has a fundraiser tournament planned for June 7.
