New Equipment in Place on LPN Course

Member investment made it possible to make some improvements to the LPN golf course for the 2014 season. New ball washers, flagsticks with reflectors, and yardage signs on sprinkler heads have been installed because of support from annual golf members.

Not yet a 2014 member? Call the pro shop at 641-755-2024 for details. Better yet, stop in, visit with the staff, and check out all the new merchandise arriving daily! There are three membership categories, including special pricing for those who were not members in 2013, and those who live more than 18 miles from the LPN and are not LPA members. More details here.

League Kickoffs this Week

LPN men's leagues are on Wednesday and include an 18-hole noon league, plus 9-hole leagues at 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. A Men's Stag Wednesday will kickoff the season, and includes cocktails and munchies at 5:30 p.m. and a program and raffle drawing at 7 p.m. League play begins May 7.

The LPN women's league is held each Thursday. A kickoff dinner is Thursday at 5:30 p.m. The season opens May 8 with a mixer, followed by league competition beginning May 15. Call the LPN pro shop at 641-755-2024 for details on the LPN men's and women's leagues.

At the Panorama West course, the women's league meets each Tuesday morning, with the first day of golf scheduled for May 6. A kickoff luncheon will be Wednesday at noon at the LPN Conference Center. For details, contact Judy Schnack at 641-755-2531 or clsdvm@netins.net.

Pool Construction Begins

Construction on a new pool on the south side of the LPN conference center has begun. The old pool was removed over the winter. The zero-entry pool will be 68'x25', with a water surface area of 60'x25'. The old pool was 40'x20'.

The Clover Ridge Interval Owners Association is paying the cost of the pool construction and several related items. The Lake Panorama Association did the demolition, will build a new mechanical room, and supplement the pool deck with additional concrete to access the conference center and pro shop. The LPN staff will manage the pool.

Annual memberships for LPA members will be $50 for singles and $100 for families. Prices will be $20 higher for non-LPA members. Daily fees will be $3 per person. The original schedule called for the pool to be finished by Memorial Day weekend, but recent rains make that unlikely. Annual fees may be adjusted based on when the pool is complete. Stay tuned for more details.

Mother's Day Brunch May 11

Make plans now to get Mom out of the kitchen and into the LPN conference center on Sunday, May 11. The annual Mother's Day Brunch will be served 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., with seatings scheduled every half hour. The cost is $14.95 for adults, $8.95 for children 5-12, and free for children 4 and under. Call 641-755-2080 for reservations. Since the kitchen staff will be busy preparing for the brunch, the regular breakfast menu won't be available that morning.

About 450 people were served during the Easter Brunch, with 20 kids enjoying an egg hunt in advance of the brunch. Thanks for supporting the LPN!

Happenings at The Links
