Friends of Lake Panorama Begins Fundraising

Plans for two new recreational amenities were unveiled at Wednesday's volunteer recognition dinner at the LPN. To make the projects possible, Friends of Lake Panorama is conducting a fundraising drive. One project is a new playground at Sunset Beach, with the other renovation of the two tennis courts at the LPN and the addition of a new basketball court.

All donations are tax deductible. Donations to these two priority projects are encouraged, but also can be made to six separate funds. There is a general fund, plus funds for each of Lake Panorama's three beaches, the LPN, and Panorama West.

To donate, make checks payable to Friends of Lake Panorama, and include details on how the money is to be used. Donations can be designated to more than one project or fund. Mail to Friends of Lake Panorama, PO Box 488, Panora, IA 50216. Donations also can be accepted electronically on the Friends website. Learn more at www.friendsoflakepanorama.org.

Seven LPN Holes Available for Granite Club Sponsorship

Friends of Lake Panorama now has responsibility for the LPN teebox sponsorship program that began in 2008 to raise money for Spikes. Called the Granite Club, sponsors from the original program keep their signs in place with an annual $500 donation. Seven holes do not have sponsors. As part of the effort to raise money for the LPN sports courts, Friends of Lake Panorama is looking for individuals or businesses to become new Granite Club members.

A donation of $10,000 means a new granite sign will be engraved, placed on one of the open holes, and remain for five years. A $5,000 donation keeps a sign in place for two years. Funds raised will be used for the sports courts, unless the donor asks to direct money to another LPN project or to the Sunset Beach playground. Open holes are #4, #6, #12, #13, #14, #15, and #17. For more information, contact Susan Thompson at staff@friendsoflakepanorama.org.

Driving Range Closed

The LPN driving range now is closed for the season. Installation of a new septic system for Clover Ridge will require construction equipment and workers to be on the east portion of the driving range for a period of time.

Speaking of construction, work is again underway on the swimming pool south of the conference center. The hope is most of the work can be completed before winter, and the pool ready to open when weather permits in the spring.
