Crews were busy last week with renovations to the main floor women’s bathroom. The room was gutted by LPA employees, removing all fixtures and sheetrock. New electrical and plumbing lines have been run, with new sheetrock to be installed and finished this week. Next up will be paint, tile, four new stalls, a countertop with three sinks, updated mirrors and light fixtures, and a new entrance door.
Kane Powell is managing the project, plus donating his labor. He came up with the idea of expanding the bathroom by removing the north wall and utilizing about five feet of the adjoining storage closet, which made the four stalls possible.
The cost of materials and additional labor is coming from the LPA, as part of its annual capital budget designated for improvements at the LPN. It is hoped there will be enough money remaining in that budget to tackle the men’s room renovation next.

SPORTS ITEMS STILL NEEDED
We’re still looking for donations of sports-related items to spice up the décor in the Links bar. Several nice pieces have been donated, with the Iowa Hawkeyes, Iowa Cyclones and the Chicago Cubs represented so far. But there is plenty of room for more!
We’d like to see other schools, teams and sports featured, so please think about something you might already have you’d like to donate. Or purchase or create something to donate. Framed items are preferred, to make keeping them clean easier, but if you have some other type of sports memorabilia you think would look great in the Links bar, please don’t hesitate to bring it in!
