#8 LPN Tee Box Project

One fall project at Lake Panorama National was to improve the middle tee box on the eighth hole. The original tee box was 30 years old, and was a safety concern because of steps made out of railroad ties. The new tee box, which now can be used for both white and yellow tees, if desired, is 250 square feet larger than the original. Golfers can enter the tee box from the cart path without using steps.

The tee box will settle over winter, and be sodded in the spring. It should be ready for play by June 1. The work was done by the LPN grounds crew, headed by Dan Wollner, grounds superintendent, with assistance from Larry Wykoff, Gary Duzenbery, and Jeff Hopkins. Thanks also to the LPA for supplying two truckloads of dirt and help with a skid loader.

LPN Golf Course Prepped for Winter

The LPN golf course will remain open for play as long as weather and course turf conditions permit. Routine winter maintenance has been completed. A preventive snow mold application and heavy top dressing has been completed on all greens. The top dressing will remain on the greens over the winter to protect the blades of grass by not exposing the crown of the plant. Even though the course is open, the top dressing is required for our greens and will help limit damage to the plant’s crown caused by foot traffic.

The course now is CART PATH ONLY. All golf carts must remain on cart paths during your round, plus as you travel to and from the course. The irrigation system has been shut down for the winter, so it is important golf cart traffic remain off the turf. Remember — golf cart tracks made in November still will be visible in the spring. We hope the weather provides more days of golf between now and spring, and we ask everyone’s help protecting our turf during the winter months,
