Panorama West Upgrades Moving Forward

At its November 28 meeting, the LPA board of directors received a task force report on using the $473,000 James and Joyce McLuen estate gift to improve the Panorama West golf course. Jan Reinicke, president of the Friends of Lake Panorama board of directors, presented the report. Recommendations by the task force were prioritized based on membership input. Recommendations include plans for new irrigation, additional concrete cart paths in selected locations, new signage and tee box amenities, landscaping around the clubhouse, improving turf condition on tee boxes and fairways, and replacing sand bunkers with grass bunkers. After discussion, the LPA board voted to defer a final decision on bunkers, and approved all other recommendations.

Work now is underway on the approved recommendations. An irrigation system plan is being developed and bids will be sought after the plan is approved. Once the cost of irrigation is determined, a cart path improvement plan will be finalized. New tee box and directional signs, yardage markers, ball washers and trash receptacles have been ordered. Clubhouse landscaping is scheduled for spring, and will incorporate a plaque honoring the McLuens. Funds for improving turf conditions of fairways and tees will be used over the next three years, with the initial aerification, seeding and fertilizing of tees and fairways planned for fall 2018.
